Were you scrolling through social media and got an ad (similar to the one below) talking about handling your credit card debt?
When you press “learn more”, it takes you to a website called Americas Finance Support, which then redirects you to Debt Solutions America. Who are these companies?
Do they have any relation to other bigger-name debt relief companies?
My name is Ben, and I have spent the last 5 years helping people understand the differences in options to help them eliminate debt cheaper, easier, and faster. I have uncovered debt consolidation scams. I was also one of the first to write an article covering the unfortunate Litigation Practice Group bankruptcy have spoken with countless people negatively affected by it.
I created “Your Debt Relief Pal” to help protect you from any debt company that may have deceptive marketing and provide you with realistic estimates of your options for debt freedom. I am going to ask that you read through this entire article. I know it’s long, but hopefully helpful.
I had never heard of Debt Solutions America, so I checked out their website on my desktop. What I found very interesting is that Debt Solution America’s website links to TurboDebt’s terms of service.
We wrote an article about TurboDebt if you want to learn more about them. I will also touch on them in this article.
It is pretty common for debt relief companies to run ads like the one seen above, but it is interesting it runs under three different names. Also, the ad above makes it appear that you can apply to get rid of your debt, but I am unsure how that would work. For example, TurboDebt appears to be a marketing company for National Debt Relief which is debt settlement company and there are things you must know before working with a debt settlement company. We will touch on this later.
Check Your Loan Rate and Compare Options!
You may be looking for a debt consolidation loan, but do you qualify? Is your credit score good enough? Is your debt-to-income ratio or credit utilization good enough? I helped build this free consolidation loan and other options calculator to help you compare your rates across multiple debt consolidation lenders and your options to other options if you cannot qualify for a loan. It’s specific to your financial information, so if you have $10,000 in debt, it will estimate your situation.
You can then check your rate, which will NOT affect your credit score.
If you do check your rate, understand the interest rate and the origination fee to see how much you will save by consolidating your debt. The above options do not charge prepayment penalties and have fixed rates, but if you use a different lender, these are important characteristics to look for.
Did you receive a debt consolidation “program” quote?
Have you spoken to a representative who mentioned a loan, a program, and a hybrid option? If so, your quote may looks something like this:
- $X Amount Per Bi-weekly or Month
- Y # of Months
- You may get pitched on a legal plan to protect against lawsuit
- You may have no idea what percentage fee you are actually being charged.
When you get a debt consolidation program quote, you may just hear that your quote includes the monthly fee, but it’s crucial to understand what FEE you’re being charged.
As such, you may want to take this free debt consolidation program fee estimator to see what you may be being charged.
It takes 30 seconds and does not require ANY personal information.
As Debt Solutions America directs to TurboDebt, I would have to imagine that these two companies may be the same, so I will look at TurboDebt’s reviews.
Debt Solutions America’s (TurboDebt) Reviews and Complaints
When I am reviewing companies, I do my best to pull reviews from the most unbiased sources. I want to read both the positive and the negative reviews to get a sense of my potential experience.
BBB
I found BBB reviews on TurboDebt. They had over 1,000 reviews, which I always find so helpful to be able to hear about other’s experiences.
A ton of the positive reviews discussed how helpful the representatives are at TurboDebt. They feel they were upfront and honest about how the program works and felt comfortable moving forward.
Complaints
The negative reviews discussed how TurboDebt harassed them with calls and they asked them to stop, but they won’t. They also discussed how TurboDebt lied to them about how long their program would last. Their representative was extremely rude.
I found Google reviews about TurboDebt. They had over 2,000 reviews, which helped me in furthering research.
The positive reviews were raving about how awesome their representatives at TurboDebt were in answering their questions and following up to make sure they were all taken care of. The representatives help ease their anxiety and stress.
The negative reviews were stating the opposite of the positive reviews. Stating that the representatives would not answer their basic questions (like how much they charge in fees) and the representative hanging up on them after trying to get more information.
If you want to read about other experiences, I recommend reading more on BBB or Google. You can also read TurboDebt Reviews on TrustPilot.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it appears as though Debt Solutions America may be the same as TurboDebt and is advertising a simple fix to debt relief.
Debt relief may be a helpful option, but it could also be helpful to explore all of your options to make the most informed decision.
